About the South Portland Terminal

Global Partners improves the economy and the quality of life in Maine by helping Mainers meet their energy, heating and transportation needs at an affordable price.

Global Partners has operated our South Portland terminal since 2001, but the site has housed an active facility since the early 1900s. It is one of 21 permitted facilities in the area that report emissions to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Global also operates 13 retail stations in the state of Maine.

In 2018, the terminal accounted for only 1% of the Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions from facilities the DEP monitors in the area.

The terminal includes 12 bulk storage tanks, four of which are heated, plus truck loading, and stores the following:

  • Diesel Fuel
  • Home Heating Fuel Oil
  • Kerosene
  • No. 6 Oil
  • Asphalt

These products are used every day to fix and build roads and other necessary infrastructure, power commercial burners and heavy-duty engines, heat homes and keep businesses and people moving.
